Move to Phase 2 During Winter Break

Dear UHV Faculty, Staff and Students,

As you know, the fall semester ends on Dec. 11, and students will be on winter break until Jan. 19, the first day of spring semester classes. UHV offices usually are open during that time.

The UHV Executive Committee has decided that with the current spike in area cases and concerns about possible spikes caused by holiday gatherings, it is wise to move back to Phase 2 during this time. Please note that I am referring ONLY to the time from Dec. 14 to Jan. 18. The Executive Committee will meet prior to Jan. 18 to determine our next step and the timing for that next step. You will receive a communication before Jan. 18 about what to do next.

The director of each administrative area will work with the employees of that unit to determine what task(s) must be completed at UHV or UHV Katy and who needs to come in to accomplish that task(s). Those individuals who can work remotely should do so.

Please note that under Phase 2 guidelines, the exterior doors of each building will be locked. If you encounter students who need assistance, please let them know that there will be an Enrollment Services Virtual Lobby on the UHV website where they can get assistance with their needs.

As always, our primary concern is the health and safety of our campus community. I encourage you to take precautions during the holidays to minimize any possible exposure you may have to COVID-19. Remember that the holiday is a time for you to be with the people who are most important to you in the safest possible manner.

As always, let me know if you have any questions. Thank you for what you have done and will do to make this a great university. All the best.

Robert K. Glenn Ph.D.
