Previously Approved for CARES Act Funding
If you are a UHV student continuing to experience a short-term financial need because of the disruption in campus operations from COVID-19, please apply to be considered for an additional emergency financial aid grant. The maximum award for the additional assistance is $1,000.
In order to be considered, students must have attended UHV during the spring 2020 semester, taken at least one face-to-face class, have a 2019-2020 Free Application for Federal Student Aid on file, and have previously received the CARES Act Emergency Aid Grant.
Eligible students: Only students who are or could be eligible to participate in programs under Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended, may receive emergency financial aid grants. If a student has filed a FAFSA, the student has demonstrated eligibility to participate in programs under Section 484 of the HEA. Students who have not filed a FAFSA but are eligible to file one also may receive emergency financial aid grants. The criteria to participate in programs under Section 484 of the HEA include but are not limited to the following: U.S. citizenship or eligible noncitizen; a valid Social Security number; registration with Selective Service (if the student is male); and a high school diploma, GED or completion of high school in an approved homeschool setting. Students must be meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress, be enrolled in a degree-seeking program, not be in default on an educational loan or owe a payment on an educational grant.
Students who were enrolled exclusively in online classes during spring 2020 are not eligible to apply for the emergency funds.
