CARES Act Institutional Relief Reporting
On May 3, 2020, the University of Houston-Victoria signed and returned to the U.S. Department of Education the certification and agreement and the assurance that the institution intended to use no less than 50 percent of the funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) and 18004(c) of the CARES Act to cover costs associated with significant changes to the delivery of instruction because of the coronavirus.
Pursuant to the institution’s certification and agreement for the institutional portion of the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund, UHV will receive $2,233,006, half of which ($1,116,503) will be provide institutional relief.
As of July 31, 2020, the total amount of institutional funding expended under Section 18004(c) is $968,332.84 for general operating costs incurred because of significant changes to the delivery of instruction.
CARES Act Minority Serving Institutional Reporting
On May 5, 2020, the University of Houston-Victoria signed and returned to the U.S. Department of Education the certification and agreement and the assurance pursuant to Section 18004(a)(2) of the CARES Act, recipient may use the award to defray expense incurred by the recipient, including lost revenue, reimbursement for expenses already incurred, technology costs associated with a transition to distance education, faculty and staff training and payroll (‘Recipient’s Expenses”). Recipient also may use this award for grants to students for any component of the student’s cost of attendance, as defined under Section 472 of the HEA, including food, housing, course materials, technology, health care, and child care (“Student Grants” or “Student Grant”). UHV will receive $159,795.
As of July 31, 2020, the total amount of MSI funding expended under Section 18004(a)(2) is $159,795 to apply a student fee waiver for the summer 2020 because of significant changes to the delivery of instruction.
