Dr. Daniel W. White is a native of Victoria, TX. After graduating from Victoria High School he joined the United States Marine Corps where he was eventually deployed to Iraq for Operation Iraqi Freedom 1 (OIF1). After honorably completing his USMC enlistment, Dr. White used the Montgomery GI bill to eventually earn an Associate of Science degree from Victoria College and then move on to receive a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Texas Lutheran University. Being a native Texan and having served honorably in the USMC, Dr. White was able to utilize the Hazelwood Act Tuition Exemption in pursuit of higher education. Dr. White received his Doctorate of Philosophy in Biomedical Science from the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth where his primary research involved neurological control of the cardiovascular system during acute exercise. Dr. White went on to a Post-Doctoral Research position in the Integrative Physiology Laboratory at the University of Illinois-Chicago. There he honed his skills in cardiovascular research in a multitude of healthy and diseased populations. It was also there that Dr. White decided to start his own line of research pursuits to give back to the veterans that he considers brothers and sisters. It is Dr. White’s personal and career goal to study and develop treatments for the cardiovascular disease that is more prevalent in veterans, especially those with combat PTSD.

Dr. White joined the UHV family in January of 2016 where he has taken on the role of Assistant Professor of Biology as well as Director of Biology Graduate Studies and Advisor to Undergraduate Pre-Health Professionals. At some point in history, Dr. White would tell you that he was a drummer, but now he spends most of his time with his wife and two sons. He also likes to hit a golf ball occasionally and claims to have a 325yd drive (but he won't tell you which fairway he ends up in).
