What are the requirements for general transfer admissions? 

Generally you will need a 2.0 GPA (on a scale of 4.0), 12+ credit hours (45+ if transferring to Katy), satisfy the Texas Success Initiative requirements, and if you’re under 22 years old, you will need to provide proof of bacterial meningitis vaccination. 

Do I have to live on campus? 

No, you may live off-campus and/or with parents. If you choose to live on-campus, there are several affordable options. 

If denied, is there anything I can do to get admitted? 

Yes, you may submit an appeal letter to request consideration to be admitted. 

How many credits do I need to qualify to transfer to UHV?

If you are looking to transfer to our main campus in Victoria, you will only 12+ college credits. If you are looking to transfer to Katy, you will need to have at least 45 credits completed and you will need to complete your lower-division credits at a nearby community college as lower-division credits are not offered in Katy.

What if I graduated from high school with an associate’s degree, can I transfer to Katy?

No, first-time-in-college students are not able to enroll at out Katy site.

Can I transfer to Katy as a freshman or sophomore?

No, our Katy instructional site does not offer lower-division courses.

How will I know which credits will transfer to UHV?

UHV transfer specialists are happy to complete draft degree plans based on credits already earned to help you see how your credits apply towards a degree plan. You will simply need to email us a copy of all of your unofficial transcripts. You can email your unofficial transcripts to recruitment@uhv.edu or if you are looking to transfer to UHV Katy, email us at katyrecruitment@uhv.edu along with your name, best contact information, and desired degree plan(s).

What programs are offered at Katy?

UHV Katy offers most degree programs offered by UHV with the exception of Biology, Biotechnology, Communication Design, Kinesiology, Health Studies, Spanish, and Political Science.

No, freshmen students are not required to submit letters of recommendation
