Financial Aid and Student Services for Veterans

UHV is approved by the Texas Education Agency to certify VA educational benefits for veterans and children or spouses of veterans.

A Financial Aid Specialist in the Office of Financial Aid is available to assist student veterans in applying for benefits. Visit our Veteran's Educational Benefits page to learn more and/or to speak with Military and Veteran benefits specialist.

Important Financial Aid Dates

October 1: FAFSA Available

October 15: Spring Priority Application deadline

March 15: Fall and Summer Priority Application deadline

Documents received after March 15 will be processed in the following time frames:

March 16: May 10 Within one week of receipt

May 11: July 26 Within two weeks of receipt

July 27: September 15 Within three weeks of receipt

Financial aid is generally awarded one week after your last document is processed. However, you will need to add an additional week if corrections are required on your FAFSA.

Basic Allowance for Housing Calculator

The Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH) is a U.S. based allowance prescribed by geographic duty location, pay grade, and dependency status. It provides uniformed Service members equitable housing compensation based on housing costs in local civilian housing markets within the United States when government quarters are not provided.
