You’ve been admitted as a Graduate Student. Now what?
Once you have been admitted to both the university and your program of study, this checklist can help you be fully prepared for the start of classes.
Step 1: Set up your Office 365 student account. Most professors will require that you submit work in Microsoft Office products (rather than Google Docs or other software); you get a free license while you’re a UHV student.
Step 2: Apply for financial aid.
Step 3: If you are in need of housing, check out UHV’s housing options at Jaguar Village. Note: Housing is only available in Victoria.
Step 4: Meet with your academic advisor to talk about scheduling classes. Note: these links are to College staff advisors. They may also refer you to faculty advisors in your specific program.
Step 5: Get to know UHV through our or schedule a personal tour of campus. You will benefit greatly by learning what resources are available to help you.
Step 6: Pay your tuition and fees balance after financial aid and any waivers have been applied.
Step 7: Order your Paw Pass - Not only does your Paw Pass serve as your official student ID, but you also will need it for library access, meals, and access in and out of the residence halls. If you’re in the Victoria area, many businesses offer discounts to UHV students.
Step 8: Buy your textbooks - Most textbooks can be purchased, rented, or downloaded (ebooks).
