How to Become a Jaguar

The process to become a member of JAXNATION is easy. Below is a simple list of steps to help guide you through the application and enrollment process.

Step One: VISIT ApplyTexas

You will need to submit three applications:

  • admissions
  • Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA)
  • housing

Admissions

Submit your admissions application through ApplyTexas. We will also need official copies of all transcripts, test scores, and Bacterial Meningitis records (22 years old or younger).

Financial Aid

If you have never applied for financial aid, the thought of doing so can be stressful. Don't worry! We are going to help you. The process is not as bad as you might think. Circle October 1st on your calendar; this is when FAFSAs will start being accepted.

Housing

All incoming freshmen will be required to live in Jaguar Village for the first two years. To secure a room, please visit the Residence Life portal and follow the steps.

Step Two: SETUP YOUR ONLINE ACCOUNT

UHV student online resources are powered by Microsoft Office 365. Once your student account is activated, you will have access to:

  • a personal student portal (myUHV)
  • email
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • JagSync
  • library database

...and more

Step Three: ENROLL

Academic Advisors

New freshmen (0-45 hours) will work one-on-one with a Success Coach to enroll into class.

Tuition Payments

To help ease the financial burden, UHV offers several types of payment plans. Once your financial aid has been awarded, you will need to make arrangements to cover the remaining balance. Make sure to check your student email often. We'll send notifications about your awarding status.

Step Four: ORIENTATION

New Student Orientation

Orientation is a two-day event where you will connect with both current and future classmates. You will learn about student resources, tips to be successful and begin to build lifelong friendships. Orientation will also set the stage for move-in and 'Welcome Week.' Get excited; the beginning of your college career will be right around the corner!

Note: New freshmen are required to attend orientation
