Component I

CBC Cougar Bridges

Cougar Bridges is the ‘first-year experience’ for freshman college students. In this phase of Component I, 30-40 eligible students will be recruited each year to participate in various Cougar Bridges activities throughout the long semester.

During the fall, students will

  • enroll in a Fundamentals of Grammar and Composition, and Applied Psychology Learning Community
  • have individual meetings with a counselor/advisor
  • have 2 meetings with a peer mentor
  • attend Cougar Bridges Transfer Conference
  • participate in extracurricular activities

During the spring, students will

  • enroll in English Composition and Grammar (English 1301) and Education Frameworks (Education 1300) classes
  • have individual meetings counselor/advisor
  • have 2 meetings with a peer mentor
  • participate in visits to four year colleges
  • participate in extracurricular activities

During the summer, students will

  • have individual meetings with the counselor/advisor
  • complete transfer preparation
