I would like to purchase Jaguar merchandise, why don't you offer employees a discount? Employees get discounts at other businesses in town, why not right here at UHV? We could be sporting the Jaguar apparel a lot more. VC bookstore had a great shirt for only about $10 - did you notice how many people are wearing that shirt? Seriously, please consider a discount for employees to purchase shirts, hats, etc. Thank you.

Response

Thank you for your suggestion.

Jaguar merchandise is on sale inside the UHV athletics office, located in the University Center building. We offer all types of merchandise and apparel, from pens and pencils to key chains and clothing. We try to keep the prices of our merchandise as affordable as possible. We have a wide assortment of t-shirts priced as low as 10 dollars. We even have polo style shirts that are perfect for casual days at the office. When you compare our prices with those at other popular universities in Texas you will see that our t shirt and polo prices are roughly half of what they charge.

Keep in mind, when you purchase authentic Jaguar apparel, not only are you showing your school spirit when you wear the items, but your purchase also benefits our student athletes as dollars raised from apparel and merchandise sales is used to support the athletic endeavors of our student athletes.

Dear Sir/Madam, I am a part-time student of UH Sugar Land System in accounting major for bachelor degree. I have been taking classes since Spring 2008. I would like to start taking accounting class, but everytime I search there is no accounting class available at night. I know that UH Sugar Land System has a lot of working adults who take night class, but why the accounting classes are available only at day time. I am a full time worker. I need to finish my accounting classes so I can start applying a job in accounting field. I hope that the UH Sugar Land System will start having accounting class at night also at the regular semester not on Summer, because Accounting classes have a lot of homeworks and need more time to learn. My suggestion also to have a good professor to teach accounting classes and UH Sugar Land System can provide tutors in accounting to help students in this area. At conclusion, I hope that UH Sugar Land System will have more accounting classes at night for upcoming semester. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to post my suggestion and hope there will be a change in the future regarding this matter, so that I can graduate soon.

Thank you for your suggestion. As you probably know, UHV’s BBA program at Sugar Land is still fairly young, and we’re learning and making adjustments as we go along. Last year we surveyed the Sugar Land BBA students regarding scheduling needs, and at that time the results indicated that Accounting concentration students were most interested in morning and evening classes. For this year, we tried offering core classes in the evening, and concentration courses in the morning (with some exceptions). In the coming year, beginning with the fall, core classes will be split between morning and evening, and Accounting concentration courses will be taught in the evening, which we hope will allow students with less flexible schedules to complete their degrees in a timely fashion. We anticipate that by fall 2010 our enrollment at Sugar Land will allow us to run both day and evening sections of core and concentration courses each semester.

We anticipate surveying our BBA students about a variety of issues again this fall, and I will include your idea about tutoring in that survey. In the meantime, I’ll visit with the Academic Center and get their ideas for implementing such a program.
