While I was going to school at Victoria College they provided free dial-up internet service to all students from their homes. What would be the probability that UHV will provide this service to their students?
Response
Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, the probability of free dial-up service being offered is very low. First, over half of UHV's students reside outside of Victoria, so providing that service in town would not serve a majority of the students, and all those outside of Victoria would have to incur long distance service calls, which would make it impractical. Second, for our on-line classes, we recommend that students use as a minimum a faster bandwidth (DSL or cable speed) to minimize the frustration with connect speed and stable connections. Finally, we approached the Student Senate about 2 years ago to see if there was any interest in that group subsidizing the costs for such a service, and their response was a clear "no interest".

Could you please offer psy 3313 or 3313 for the spring semester.
Response
The psychology program has made some changes to its human development courses that go into effect the spring of 2007. PSY 3312 Child Development and PSY 3313 Psychology of Adolescence are being combined to form a new course called Child and Adolescent Development that will be offered in the fall semester. A new course, Adult Development and Gerontology has been created to address new state legislative requirements. As a result of these changes, either human development class (Child and Adolescent Development or Adult Development and Gerontology) may be substituted for the human development requirement on the undergraduate psychology degree plan.

Subject — Spring 2007 Course Schedule, Registration Procedures
Forwarded to — Registrar
Suggestion / Comment
It would be useful and very helpful if the school would post when spring 2007 courses where available. I dont know when they posted the courses, but I just saw it today. I find it very disappointing that we have to find out information by word of mouth.
Also, could you post something about when registration starts. By being at a small school, certain classes are only offered at a certain time. So when they become available we have to register for them very quickly before they fill up. Being notified about the day registration starts would help us all! And it only makes sense that the students who pay for these courses be notified.
In the past semesters something has been posted on school's website about courses and registration. What happened?
Response
Thank you for your comments. We usually announce when the next semester's schedule will be available on the "What's New at UHV" section of the UHV home page. The same goes for announcing when registration begins. In addition, the "Important Dates and Deadlines" link from the home page also provides the date the schedule is available online and when registration opens. So as you can see, there are multiple locations where the schedule and registration information can be found. Thanks again for your comments. Best wishes for a successful semester.

Subject — Health Fair/Flu Shot

Suggestion / Comment
UHV used to have a health fair for students where we could get our eyes checked, blood pressure and diabites checked and other health prevention issues. What happened to that? Also in the past you also provided the service of us being able to get a flu shot on campus, is that not going to happen either.
Response
Thank you for your interest in the Health Fair. The Health Fair is planned for the Spring semester. Announcements will be posted on the Listserv when the date is determined. Flu shots were not offered for students this year but you may contact your local health department if you are interested in getting one.

Suggestion / Comment
the ABR....is it only on Fridays? Students and faculty aren't here then. Can you offer it another time so students can go?
Response
A lot depends on the schedule of the speaker: some can only be on campus on Fridays. We offered our first presentation (Graciela Limon) on a Wednesday and our second (Eric Miles Williamson) on a Friday. In the Spring, we plan to mix up the days of the week that the presentations are offered as much as possible. Thanks for the suggestion.
