Subject: Online Courses

NO MORE ONLINE CLASSES!!!!!
Response: On-line courses provide an avenue for students
to take advantage of higher education who otherwise may not
be able to obtain a degree. Providing on-line instruction
makes higher education more accessible to students who do
not live near a campus. If there is a need or issue that you
would like to address concerning a specific course, you
should discuss this with your instructor or the school dean.
While I understand that sometimes working toward your
degree may seem to be a difficult endeavor, I can assure you
that it is worth the effort. Good luck in all your courses.

Subject: School of Business Administration Home Page
Forwarded to: Director of School of Business
Administration
I am a School of Business student who doesn't have an
especially fast computer. Can you please adjust your
business homepage so it doesn't take so long to load.
Response: Thank you for your suggestion. The most
dynamic, informative web page in the world is of little use
to someone if the page is too large to download, and we're
sensitive to that. Periodically, all of our pages are tested
to ensure that they meet reasonable "industry" standards for
speed, and that they download at least as quickly as our
competititors' pages. A web page, like the average user's
computer, tends to accumulate data, images, and various
files over time, and this accumulation can slow down
performance. We are currently retesting our homepage to see
if that has happened here. Watch for improvements in the
near future.

Subject: Prerequisite Equivalents
Fowarded to: Registrar
Please incorporate an equivalent form between your
prerequisite courses and the community colleges in the
Houston area. The course numbers compared with yours will be
very helpful!!!
Response:
Thank you for
submitting your suggestion. Because UHV is an upper-level
institution, most of our prerequisite courses are taken at
the lower division and transferred to UHV. We are currently
in the process of totally reconstructing our 2+2
articulation web pages, which will hopefully address your
suggestion. Also, our website does provide a list of the
Texas Common Course Numbering System courses that are used
in the evaluation of lower division courses transferred to
UHV from other institutions. This list is available at
http://www.uhv.edu/catalog/TX_common_course.asp.
I would
encourage you to visit with a degree plan counselor in the
school of your major should you have questions regarding
prerequisite courses and your degree plan.
