Off the Clock

Alumni Relations Specialist
I think it would be a good idea to have the "Off the
Clock" functions on Thursday nights only. I believe this
would encourage more participation.
Response:
Thank you for your
feedback in regards to Off the Clock with UHV. Although
alumni relations prefers to host this event on Thursday
evenings, there are occasions where we accommodate a special
guest or a venue based on their availability. We encourage
you to continue to provide feedback on this and other alumni
events in the future.

Diplomas
Sent to:
Registrar
Why are UHV's diplomas so big? Usually for a bachelors
degree they are a bit smaller. When looking at other schools
diplomas, the masters degree tends to be the larger size not
the bachelors. I think UHV should consider a smaller diploma
it would save money not only on the cost ofprinting but also
on the cost of framing.
Response:
Approximately
eight years ago UHV went to the 11" x 14" diploma at the
request of the Student Senate. Since we now print our own
diplomas, there would not be that much of a savings if we
were to go back to the smaller size. Thank you for your
suggestion.

Passwords

Academic Computing Services Manager
You should make it easier to receive forgotten/lost
passwords, because even if we try calling, no one is there,
because of the early hours. Thanks.
Response:
I wish we had a
little more information to go on here as to which
password/log in the suggestion is referring to e.g. WebCT
password, UHV domain log in password, Financial Aid password
etc…
I can only attest to the UHV Domain passwords. The Lab
Help Desk is open M-Th from 8:00-Midnight, Friday 8:00-5:00,
Saturday 8:00-6:00 and Sunday 1:00-6:00 and can be contacted
by calling 361-570-4888. I am guessing that this suggestion
is not in response to UHV Domain passwords since we don't
have "early hours".
My assumption would be that the suggestion is referring
to Web CT passwords. The current process is for students to
contact Jody Gillit during normal office hours. We are aware
though that one of the reasons Web CT is so successful is
it's ability to reach non traditional students. Thus the
whole Web CT concept is based on students who do class work
largely outside of normal office hours. This of course leads
to a need for after hours support. Several options are
currently being explored however there are security issues
to be considered. We hope to have a more comprehensive
solution to this issue soon.

Reserving UHV Rooms
Sent to:
Provost
It would be most helpful if all room reservation were
made through ONE person or at the very least one department.
It is confusing and tiresome trying to keep up with whom to
contact to reserve a particular room. I think it would
really streamline the process to have one person in charge
of all room reservations. Perhaps the receptionist?
Response:
Scheduling of
conference rooms in University West is now done through the
Provost's Office (570-4321). The only conference rooms in
University Center are the President's and the Student
Senate's, and these are not generally available for
scheduling.

Accessing Grades
Sent to:
Registrar
Everyone is looking for their grades. Why isn't there a box
where we can write one or two words that will take us to
where we need to go on this web site? Instead, it only lists
what the University deems students should access. I never
know what grades I get because you quit sending them through
the mail and I can never find them.
Response:
Thank you for your
suggestion. There is an easy way to access your grades.
There is a link on the home page called "Register, Check
Grades & More" that students can use to access their grades.
Thank you again for your suggestion.
