The University of Houston-Victoria, along with its
consortium partners, is excited to announce our study abroad
program in Taipei, Taiwan. Each year we will arrange for
students to study in the heart of one of the most exciting
cities in the world. Students will take a course in ECO 6300
Special Topics in Managerial Economics: IT manufacturing in
the World Supply Chain (Taiwan Study). The course
counts as one elective for all concentrations in MBA,
including general business, finance, accounting, management,
and marketing.

Classes will be
twelve to fifteen students.
The course equips UHV MBA students to
be able
1. to conduct real-world international
study and understand Chinese working ethics/culture;
2. to understand how the IT industry works in the world
supply chain model;
3. to estimate demand function and cost function in IT
industry with basic statistical tools;
4. to develop decision-making for IT manufacturers in cost
management, output rate, and pricing with game theory
5. to develop skills in team work with international
participants and conflict resolutions to accomplish a shared
purpose.
Semester Program (3 weeks)
Each student will take one class and
receive three credit hours. Classes will operate on a seminar
style format with all students actively participating in
discussions with their professor. Class will be three days in
Houston and the rest in Taiwan. Students enrolling in
a class will be provided with a syllabus before they leave
the United States. Term project, presentation, and
peer evaluation must
be completed for a student to receive a final grade.
Although each class schedule will
ultimately rest with the professor of record, classes will
typically run Monday through Friday.
Attendance at ALL class sessions for the FULL
CLASS PERIOD is expected. Absence in class is not
tolerated, and will result in your grade being lowered.
