       I.            The minutes of June 11, 2008 meeting were reviewed and approved with the exception of the date correction.

     II.

Guest Speaker-Dr. Jim Holm, Maggie Moreno, Chari Norgard

-Spoke about representation of ideas and partnership in regards to UHV Virtual Tour, public relations.  Last     spring they piloted the start of UHV communication in Dr. Jim Holm’s Psychology Class.  Students were able to ask questions such as child care, shopping, UHV Academic Center, politics and the environment.

A Virtual Tour would consist of an everyday college experience, by walking the campus of UHV.  It would be able to show the students the locations of, Admissions, Financial Aid, Student Solutions, and the Bursar office.   An idea is to maybe incorporate classroom experiences.  This site would be available to all students and be a formal site for communication about classes, activities, and overall questions about the community.

All quests liked the idea of the Virtual Tour and need suggestions of how accessible it would be for the student body.

Maggie Suggested having exact links to Financial Aid, Bursar, and Student Solutions etc.

Kristen Lindley suggested letting students talk about book swapping or selling books to each other that may be more reasonable price for the students. Kristen had a similar experience at UH Main.  The professor provided a discussion area where students can talk to each other, and ask questions about subject not pertaining to the class.

Contact Chari L. Norgard, Senior Director of Student and Academic Services:

www.norgardc@uhv.edu or 361.570.4290, to make suggestions and provide assistance for the Virtual Tour launch.
