The Red Cross is collecting canned goods, clothes, diapers, toys, bottles, tooth brushes/paste, deodorant, cleaning supplies, trash bags and other necessities used on a daily basis. All donations to the Red Cross are considered a group project.

Requirements:

Gamma will be making a monetary donation to the Red Cross to help Hurricane Ike evacuees with gas money. Many evacuees are unable to get back to their homes to check their property because they lack sufficient gas money. Gamma will be making a donation to the Red Cross for that and will be soliciting donations from members and non-members at the Oct 3 meeting. We will be collecting donations at the Victoria and Sugar Land meeting.

Requirements:

UHV-Gamma is conducting a contest to design our member name badges. At all Gamma service projects, members can wear the name badge to indicate their name, their association with our organization, and to promote awareness in the community of Gamma's efforts. Any member who wishes to submit a design should do so by October 1, 2008 and submit to Elisia Wilson for distribution to the membership. A vote will be conducted at the October 3, 2008 meeting to choose the winner. (The name badges will distributed to all members asap!)

All members who participate will earn an individual service project credit.

The winner will received a a $25 gift card to WalMart.

Requirements:

PARTICIPATION IN THIS PROJECT, WILL BE CONSIDERED AS AN INDIVIDUAL SERVICE PROJECT.

We will be collecting all clothing items for the Fort Bend Women's Center. Please be sure all clothing is in a wearable condition. When dropping off clothing into the receptacle, please be sure your name is included and that your clothing is separated from the other clothing. Please call or email to sign-up and confirm your participation.

Requirements:

Each volunteer will need to print, complete, and bring the liability release form (HFHV Individual Waiver Form) when they come to the worksite for the first time. Members should review safety information (Construction Safety Overview).

Habitat asks volunteers to arrive by 7:45 am to sign in and be present for the safety talk and job assignments. Habitat provides water, Powerade, and fans and tents for cooling. We begin cleanup around 11:30 and provide a lunch.

Habitat stresses the importance of closed toe shoes and weather appropriate clothing. Volunteers need to be at least 16 years old unless prior arrangements have been made to accommodate youth.

Requirements:

We would like the assistance of members to fill the following teams on the day of the induction. These teams will aid us in achieving a smooth running induction.

PARTICIPATION IN THIS EVENT WILL BE CONSIDERED AS A GROUP SERVICE PROJECT

The following teams are:

  • Ushers: Greet and direct guests to the Registration table, Refreshment table and to the meeting after the induction.
  • Decorators: Responsible for setting up the tables and displaying the banner & code of arms.
  • Refreshment Table: organizes refreshments and maintains supplies on the Refreshment table.
  • Registration table: Records new members on list and ensures the signing of the scrapbook.
  • Clean Up: Oversees the cleanup after the completion of induction.

We have an opportunity to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer care, Support and research by creating a team to walk together 3.1 miles at the Fort Bend Walk.

GROUP SERVICE PROJECT: Walking with GBP at the walk will be considered as a group service project, please contact Elisia Wilson as soon as possible if you would like to join the team. If you would like to join the team you may sign up at http://alztex.kintera.org/fortbend/uhvgbp

INDIVIDUAL SERVICE PROJECT: Donating money (check & money orders made payable to the Alzheimer's Association) for the cause. Individual Service Credit is awarded for volunteerism with any non-profit agency.

Group Service Credit is awarded for volunteerism within a GBP committee and/or special project.
