Phi Zeta Bowl-A-Thon
Victoria, TX
On April 20, 2013, Phi Zeta Honor Society for Biological Sciences is holding a Bowl-a-thon at Century Lanes in Victoria, TX from 12PM-3PM.
$200 of the Bowl-A-Thon proceeds will go to the National Kidney Foundation. This is an organization that Phi Zeta picked this semester to sponsor because there is 1 in every 9 adults has a chronic kidney disease and most is unaware of it. Because symptoms may not appear until the kidneys are actually failing, millions of people with kidney damage go without knowing and are not addressing the health risks that occur with their kidneys. With that problem NKF’s mission is to help us become more aware of the risks and taking precautions in making it aware. On April 14, 2013 there is a Kidney Walk in Houston. If you would like to donate or register to walk this is the link below. http://donate.kidney.org/site/TR?fr_id=5600&pg=entry
How the Bowl-a-thon Fundraiser Works
The point of this event is to get bowling teams of 4 together and each bowler collects pledges and donations before the day of the event. You may either join an existing team, or you may become a Team Captain and start your own team!
To raise money, you may ask for flat-rate donations of $5 or $10, or you may ask people to pledge a few cents per every point you score. For example, if a friend sponsors you for $.25 per point and you score a perfect game of 300 points, you will collect $75 from your friend for this great cause! Use the pledge form to keep track of your donations and pledges, and use an envelope to safely store money collected.
For our 1st Bowl-a-thon to be a success, each bowler should raise at least $20-$50. There will be prizes for the most gutter balls, highest team score, most donations, and best team name!
