Education Student Association
- ARTICLE I. Name and Location
- Section 1.
- The name of this association shall be University of Houston Victoria Education Student Association, hereinafter known as the Association.
- Section 2.
- Headquarters for the Association shall be maintained in Victoria, Victoria County, Texas.

- ARTICLE II. Purposes
- Section 1.
- Promote interest in college students interested in education.
- Section 2.
- Provide its members with opportunities for developing personal growth and professional competence.
- Section 3.
- Provide opportunities for gaining an understanding of the history, ethics and programs of the education profession.
- Section 4.
- Provide opportunities for participating in cooperative work on the problems of the profession and the community.
- Section 5.
- Provide active professional membership on the local, state and national levels during the preparation period for a career in education.
- Section 6.
- Strive for higher standards of preparation.
- Section 1.
- ARTICLE III. Membership
- Section 1.
- Membership in the Association shall be open to any University of Houston-Victoria student preparing for a career or interested in education.
- Section 2.
- In addition to being a member of the Association, each member must also be affiliated with a professional educator association of their choice and provide proof of membership. A person shall not be admitted to, or continued in membership in the Association who holds full certification, a teaching contract and receives payment for teaching duties, with the exception of graduate students receiving graduate teaching assistantships, and those students who hold substitute positions.
- Section 3.
- The membership year shall be from September 1 to August 31.

- ARTICLE IV. Officers
- Section 1.
- The officers of the Association shall be responsible to the membership in all matters concerning the discharge of their duties.
- Section 2.
- The officers of the Association shall be a President, a Vice President, a Secretary, a Treasurer and a Social Director/Historian.

- ARTICLE V. Organization
- Section 1.
- Executive Committee: There shall be an Executive Committee composed of the officers and advisor(s).
- Section 2.
- General Meetings: There shall be four (4) general meetings of the members of this Association per semester.

- ARTICLE VI. Affiliates
- Section 1.
- This Association shall not affiliate with any local, state or national group, union or association.
- Section 2.
- Members shall be affiliated with the professional organization of his or her choice.
- Section 1.
- ARTICLE VII. Amendment Process
- Section 1.
- This constitution may be amended at any regular meeting by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of the members present and voting.
- Section 2.
- Proposed amendments must be submitted in writing to the Secretary and read at the previous regular meeting.
- Section 3.
- EFFECTIVE DATE. Any amendment(s) to this Constitution shall become effective ten (10) days after the approval by the membership.

- ARTICLE VIII.; Suspension Procedure
- Section 1.
- Any section of any article of this Constitution may be suspended by a four-fifths (4/5) vote at any general meeting, provided that any request for a suspension must be accompanied by a statement of the purpose for the suspension of the rules.
