As we near the beginning of the fall semester for our first-ever freshmen, we are transitioning from recruiting to ensuring our freshmen have all their paperwork in to become UHV students. Our efforts now turn to preparing these students for their first semester in college and ensuring their success. We've conducted 4 new student/parent orientations that help introduce students and their parents to their academic and social life at UHV.

During these orientation sessions, parents have expressed interest in ongoing communication with the university. After discussing several options with parents, we found that they preferred a periodic newsletter with updates on freshman activities, a calendar of upcoming events and important dates, as well as information on various other topics that they believe important.

Since this will be our last update before we transition to the parent newsletter, we provide information on our final recruiting efforts for this fall and our plans for next year's recruitment efforts, freshmen orientations, plans for our first-ever freshman seminar and our early intervention efforts to promote retention and success.
