Services
Housing
UH-Victoria has no on-campus student housing. An apartment guide is available to students looking for housing as well as maps of Victoria. The apartment guide may be picked up in our office or, if you want one mailed, call Student Services at 361-570-4142.
Publications
Student Discount Program brochure is printed once a year for students, faculty and staff. It includes discounts from local Victoria merchants.
Student Lounges
Student lounges are maintained for students on the first floors of the UHV buildings. Coffee (for a nominal fee), a microwave oven, a refrigerator, a television, magazines, and newspapers are available for use. Student lounges are also located in UHS Sugar Land and UHS Cinco Ranch. Please click for locations in the West and Center Buildings.
Student Organizations
Opportunities for the development of leadership and a chance to help the university and community are offered to students through participation in recognized university organizations. For more information, come by our office or contact the Student Services Assistant at 361-570-4102.
An awards banquet is held once a year in the Spring for all students who are actively involved in a student organization. The Student Volunteer of the Year is announced at the banquet.
Student Senate
Student government at UH-Victoria exists in the form of the Student Senate. This governing body's purpose is to promote communications between constituents of UHV, to enhance the unique education environment of UHV, and to address specific needs of students in order to provide a voice to and for the student body with respect to academic and cultural matters. For more information, come by our office or contact Student Services at 361-570-4102.
Math/Computer Science Awareness Day
The University of Houston Victoria, in conjunction with The Victoria College, hosts Math/Computer Science Awareness Day. Every year hundreds of top high school students from surrounding areas are offered an opportunity to come to our campus. They take part in competitions, feel camaraderie with like-minded students, and are inspired by the beauty and the richness of mathematics. They also receive a close-up look into what mathematicians do. We offer two scholarships to the contest winners, one for $2,000 and another for $1,000. Our 2010 contest will be announced at a later date.
