Spring 2002

· Self-Study committees conduct inquiries, based on the must statements of the Criteria, into all facets of university activities.

· They then complete their committee reports and submit them to the director.

· Steering committee and director review reports and discuss with subcommittees as need be.

· Overall institutional Self-Study Report is compiled, edited, and distributed internally.

Fall and preceding summer of 2002

Spring of 2003

· Units respond to the report, indicating what has been done or is in progress to address recommendations and suggestions of the committees.

· Overall response document is compiled and edited and serves as an addendum.

· SACS names tentative visiting team and chair (institution may respond to selections).

· Self Study, Addendum, Planning/Assessment documents, and basic institutional documents (catalog, etc) are sent to each member of the visiting team and SACS liaison staff (probably earlier to staff and visiting committee chair).

· Logistical preparations are made for the visiting team’s transportation, lodging, interviews, and work space (the chair will probably visit the institution prior to the team visit).

· The team completes its draft report, including any recommendations based on the must statements, shares it orally in summary with the campus, and later provides a written document.

· The institution provides a written response to the report, indicating what it is doing and has in prospect to do to address any recommendations.

2003-2004 Decision

In December of 2003 at an assembly of representatives of institutions from throughout the SACS region, the Commission on Colleges will announce the status of UHV’s accreditation.
