COUNSELING EDUCATION

Goal

Objectives

orange.gif (289 bytes)   The counselor will be able to develop and maintain effective individual and group counseling relationships and to provide assistance in educational, career, and personal needs of individuals.
orange.gif (289 bytes)   The counselor will be knowledgeable about the theories and research concerning growth and stages of human development and utilize this information appropriately in the counseling process.
orange.gif (289 bytes)   The counselor must be able to use appropriate assessment tools and to be able to interpret the results in guiding counseling interventions.
orange.gif (289 bytes)     The counselor will be appreciative of group and individual diversity and act as a leader in promoting multicultural awareness.
orange.gif (289 bytes)   The counselor will have knowledge and understanding of her/his professional, legal and ethical rights and responsibilities.

orange.gif (289 bytes)   ACT Alumni satisfaction Survey for 1999-2000. This was a one-time counseling specific survey completed as part of a research project.
orange.gif (289 bytes)   Alumni Survey completed by each graduating class. This survey was designed by the counseling faculty and distributed through the College of Education.

 Use of Results

1.       In response to the results of ACT survey, we revised the schedule of courses and distributing a copy to each student so they will be able to do better planning.
2.       In response to the ACT result, we include student's interest in doctoral program in counseling into our long range plan. We will need to build collaborative efforts with a doctoral granting institution.
3.       During the academic year, we updated our program of courses. Course revision is ongoing according to State licensing and certification requirements.
4.       In response to student suggestion, we rescheduled courses and improved course delivery.
5.       The faculty meets to review items from their individual evaluations the could be addressed as a group.
