II.  General Agenda 

  • Data Collection

--Trudy Wortham reported that registrations are running 220 ahead of those at the same time last year.

She said OAR had purchased a Xante Printer, which would save time and money on diplomas.  

  • Instructional Technology/Online Issues and Updates

--Joe Ferguson reported that Skillport Training cannot include alumni—only employees and students.  

He distributed a comparison of laptop/desk top configurations and of different printers. 

--The data imaging project was discussed in relation to how it would interact with PeopleSoft.  It was agreed that a progress report on the project was probably needed.                             

  • Fort Bend Issues and Updates

--The ad for an academic administrator is now out. 

--Fall registrations at Sugar Land are running behind last year’s. 

III.   Specific Agenda 

·        Student Appeals 

--Appeal for admission despite three previous suspensions from another institution was approved. 

--Appeal to use an older degree plan for graduation purposes was approved. 

-- Appeal for waiver of TOEFL was referred to the School of Business Administration.

--Appeal for readmission to the School of Education and Human Development was considered the call of that School. 

--Appeal for admission to graduate school with an index of 1270 was denied, following discussion of how best to handle cases that seem exceptional but fall below the discretional range of 1300-1399 (it was agreed the student could take another course if in the process of repeating the GRE). 

  • Faculty Development Requests and Reports

--Approved a development grant for conference presentation ($200) to Dr. Jianjun Du to present at the 15th International Conference on Pacific Rim Management, Association for Chinese Management Educators 2005 Annual Meeting in San Diego, CA, in July.
