I.  Minutes 

--Approved with correction of enrollment number 

II.  General Agenda 

• Data Collection

--The registrar reported 1,425 enrollments paid for first and 10-week summer sessions with 7,879 credits generated.  Additional enrollments are expected.  Official final totals for last summer were 1,476 enrollments and 8,013 credits.  

• Instructional Technology/Online Issues and Updates

--Campus IT staff met with Sugar Land IT staff on working out transitional issues.  Joe Ferguson is in communication with UH on the transition, as well.  Probably, we will ask that emergency needs be handled the same way as they are for the campus.  

--Ron Sardessai asked that a used desktop computer be placed in the faculty modular building for occasional use.  Mr. Ferguson indicated that could be done. 

• Fort Bend Issues and Updates

--The provost indicated the ad for the academic administrator for the Fort Bend centers had not yet been placed. 

--Joe Dahlstrom noted that the Sugar Land Librarian had taken a job at UHCL and that UHV would be running the search for her replacement. 

III.  Specific Agenda 

• Student Matters

--A student appeal was approved for waiver of the TOEFL. 

• Faculty Development Requests and Reports

--Approved a development grant for conference presentation ($257) to Dr. Yong Lee to the 2005 Annual Meeting of the American Accounting Association, in San Francisco, CA, in August.  Also, approved a research grant ($800) titled “Managers’ Opportunistic Behavior Surrounding the Stock Repurchases” to investigate two related events in sequence from the earnings management perspective.  

--Approved a research grant ($200) for Dr. Donald Loffredo to investigate the relationship between Myers-Briggs Personality Type Indicator and communication style. 

--Approved research grants ($1,000 each) for Drs. Chun-Sheng Yu and June Lu to investigate the current status of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in China. 

--Accepted a grant funded conference travel report from Dr. Sandy Venneman and a research grant funded report from Dr. Donald Loffredo.
