Academic Council Minutes, March 16, 2005I Guest --Sandra Heinold was present to discuss efforts to instruct students in avoiding plagiarism and to share materials developed on that subject by the Academic Center. The discussion led to another one on testing and the ongoing effort to deal with the different sorts of proctoring needed, particularly given the realities of different sites and electronic delivery. II. Minutes --Approved as presented. III. General Agenda
--Elois Kraatz was present to discuss articulation with the AAT (Assoc. of Arts in Teaching) offered by Houston Community College. Discussion was wide ranging but came down to recognizing the realities of transfer and need to accommodate it insofar as possible, as serving the interest of students and our own programs. It was noted that the state mandated core curriculum and field of study curricula were replacing 2+2’s, which do not serve well when they must serve several different institutions.
--A question was raised
about whether the FACT (Faculty Advisory Committee on Technology) was
continuing to meet. --A further question was whether policy had officially changed on the reassignment of replaced computer, since those were previously reassigned within the unit. In other words, who controls the unit’s inventory?
