Academic Council Minutes, May 14, 2001
I. General Agenda
- Chari Norgard reported that by summer there would be a web site
where students could type in their student number and get their WebCT
identification number.
- Joe Ferguson reported that flat screen monitors had dropped in price
to the point that we would order them when adding or replacing
monitors. He also reported on problems variously experienced with ITV.
Discussion focused on
1) whether ITV is sufficiently reliable, economical, and effective
as a medium of instruction;
2) whether the institution should concentrate its resources on
supporting and improving online instructional technology.
--A committee will be formed to examine issues of reliability,
cost-effectiveness, and instructional effectiveness, and to recommend
direction.
--In the mean time, for the existing ITV equipment to be sufficiently
serviceable it was agreed that upgrading and staffing would need
attention.
