Student Appeals:

--Denied request of a student to be admitted to a graduate program without the GRE in recognition of a master's degree from an unaccredited institution.

--Approved a student request for readmission despite 3 suspensions more than 10 years ago--on condition that the student must maintain a 2.0 GPA overall.

Faculty Development Grants"

--Approved a request of Dr. Richard Gunasekera for a travel grant ($900) to present at a poster session at the 10th Annual Research Conference of the American Institute for Cancer Research in Washington, D.C., in August.

--Approved a request of Dr. Joseph Ben-Ur for a research grant ($1,000) for research titled "The Use of Web in the 2000 U.S. Presidential Election."

--Accepted a report on grant-funded conference travel from Dr. Donald Fry.

Other matters:

--Decided to increase Faculty Development award maximums for 2000-2001 as follows:

Two presentations up to $1,700

Single presentation up to $1,100

Research grant up to $1,700

Sponsored adjunct or half-time faculty up to $850

--Discussed the need for better dissemination of academic policy at Fort Bend, particularly with regard to grade appeals in articulated courses.
