State Scholarships
Fifth Year Accounting Student Scholarship
Criteria: Students must have at least 120 credit hours, be a Texas resident, applying to take
the CPA exam within a year, and must be meeting satisfactory academic
progress. The scholarship award is the lesser of the student’s financial
need or $5000.
Disbursement: Checks
are processed by UHV after enrollment verification and academic progress is reviewed.
Early High School Graduation Scholarship
Criteria:
- Graduate from a Texas public high school on or after 09/01/2003

Have completed either the recommended high school
curriculum or the distinguished achievement high school
curriculum* in no more than 36 consecutive months**
- Have attended high school in Texas only and
-
Are Texas residents.
*A student graduating high school after
09/01/2003 who does not satisfy the high school
curriculum requirement will be considered to have
satisfied those requirements if the high school from
which the student graduates notes on the student's
transcript that the student was unable to complete
the appropriate curriculum within the time allowed
because the necessary courses were unavailable due
to course scheduling, lack of enrollment capacity or
another cause not in the student's control.
**For students graduating after 09/01/2003, the
maximum time allowed to complete the requirements for
grades 9 - 12 may be extended to 41 months (with a
lesser award); or to 46 consecutive months if the
student also graduates with at least 30 hours of college credit.
License Plate Insignia Scholarship
Criteria: An individual must demonstrate financial need, are Texas residents and are
enrolled at least half-time.
Disbursement: Checks are processed by UHV after enrollment verification and academic
progress is reviewed.
