Disbursements occur Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

All documentation must be completed prior to disbursement.

LOAN ENTRANCE COUNSELING

Direct Loan Entrance Counseling

First time Federal Direct Stafford Loan borrowers must complete a Federal Direct Entrance Counseling session prior to the disbursement of student loans. This helps you to understand your responsibilities regarding your loan.  Log into https://studentloans.gov to begin you session.

Graduate PLUS Loan Entrance Counseling

First time Federal Direct Graduate PLUS Loan borrowers must complete a Federal Direct Graduate PLUS Entrance Counseling session prior to the disbursement of student loans. This helps you to understand your responsibilities regarding your loan.  Log into https://studentloans.gov to begin you session.

 

LOAN EXIT COUNSELING

Direct Loan Exit Counseling

Each time a student loan borrower withdraws from a semester, drops below half-time, or graduates from a degree program, the student must complete a Direct Stafford Exit Counseling session on the web at http://www.nslds.ed.gov/nslds_SA/.  A university stop will be placed on the student's account if the student is required to complete the counseling session. Students will not be able to register for upcoming semesters or get an academic transcript until confirmation of completion is received in the Office of Financial Aid. A Return of Title IV Funds will be calculated if a student withdraws, which may result in a balance owed to UHV.

If a student does not have access the web, a computer is available in the Office of Financial Aid.

Graduate PLUS Loan Exit Counseling

Each time a student withdraws from a semester, drops below half-time, or graduates, the student must complete a Graduate PLUS Exit Counseling session on the web at http://www.nslds.ed.gov/nslds_SA/.  If a student does not have access the web, a computer is available in the Office of Financial Aid.

Direct Loan & Graduate PLUS Loan Exit Counseling

If you received both the Federal Direct and Graduate PLUS loans while taking courses towards your degree, you must complete the combined Stafford & Graduate PLUS Exit Counseling Session if you drop below half-time, withdraw from a semester, or graduate.  The counseling session is located on the web at http://www.nslds.ed.gov/nslds_SA/.

 

TEACH GRANT COUNSELING

TEACH Grant Entrance Counseling

Each student awarded a TEACH Grant will be required go through TEACH Grant Entrance Counseling before the grant will be disbursed. The Department of Education will eventually implement an on-line counseling session. The online counseling session is located at https://teach-ats.ed.gov/ats/studentHome.action

A TEACH Grant will be converted to an unsubsidized Direct Loan if the student fails to complete his/her service obligation (teach for four years in a high-need, low income school within an eight year period).

TEACH Grant Subsequent Counseling

Each student awarded an additional TEACH Grant will be required go through TEACH Grant Subsequent Counseling before the additional grant award will be disbursed.  The Department of Education will eventually implement an on-line counseling session. The online counseling session is located at https://teach-ats.ed.gov/ats/studentHome.action

Teach Grant Exit Counseling

Each time a student withdraws from a TEACH-eligible program or graduate, the student must complete a TEACH Grant Exit Counseling session.  The Department of Education will eventually implement an on-line counseling session. The website to complete Teach Grant Exit Counseling will be http://www.nslds.ed.gov/nslds_SA/.
