Loan and Grant Counseling


Stafford Loan Entrance Counseling

 

During the guarantee process on Loans By Web you may be prompted to complete Loan Entrance counseling if this is your first Stafford student loan or you have not guaranteed a Stafford loan within the past 90 days.  Entrance Counseling is required prior to the disbursement of student loans.  Log into Mapping-Your-Future.org.  If you prefer to complete the entrance counseling session in Spanish, use this MappingYourFuture.org link.

 

Graduate PLUS Loan Entrance Counseling

 

Each student applying for a Federal Graduate PLUS Loan must go through Graduate PLUS Loan Entrance Counseling on the web at Mapping-Your-Future.org before the loan will be disbursed.

 

Stafford & Graduate PLUS Entrance Counseling

 

If you plan to apply for both the Stafford and Graduate PLUS loans, you can complete the combined Stafford & Graduate PLUS Entrance Counseling Session on the web at MappingYourFuture.org

 

Stafford Loan Exit Counseling

 

Each time a student withdraws from a semester, drops below half-time, or graduates, the student must complete a Stafford Exit Counseling session on the web at Mapping-Your-Future.org.  A university stop will be placed on the student's account if the student is required to complete the counseling session.  Students will not be able to register for upcoming semesters or get an academic transcript until confirmation of completion is received in the Office of Financial Aid.  If you prefer to complete the exit counseling session in Spanish, use this MappingYourFuture.org link.

 

If a student does not have access the web, a computer is available in the Office of Financial Aid.

 

Graduate PLUS Loan Exit Counseling

 

Each time a student withdraws from a semester, drops below half-time, or graduates, the student must complete a Graduate PLUS Exit Counseling session on the web at Mapping-Your-Future.org.

Alternative Loan Entrance Counseling

 

Each student applying for an Alternative (Private) Educational Loan must complete an Private Loan Counseling Session.  Please proceed to the following website to satisfy this task requirement.  The counseling session must be completed prior to the disbursement of your loan.

TEACH Grant Entrance Counseling

 

Each student awarded a TEACH Grant will be required go through TEACH Grant Entrance Counseling before the grant will be disbursed. During the Fall 2008 term, the Office of Financial Aid Staff will be offering the counseling session in person.  The Department of Education will eventually implement an on-line counseling session.

 

A TEACH Grant will be converted to an unsubsidized Direct Loan if the student fails to complete his/her service obligation (teach for four years in a high-need, low income school within an eight year period).

 

TEACH Grant Subsequent Counseling

 

Each student awarded an additional TEACH Grant will be required go through TEACH Grant Subsequent Counseling before the additional grant award will be disbursed.  During the Fall 2008 term, the Office of Financial Aid Staff will be offering the counseling session in person.  The Department of Education will eventually implement an on-line counseling session.

 

Teach Grant Exit Counseling

 

Each time a student withdraws from a TEACH-eligible program or graduate, the student must complete a TEACH Grant Exit Counseling session.  During the Fall 2008 term, the Office of Financial Aid Staff will be offering the counseling session in person.  The Department of Education will eventually implement an on-line counseling session.
