Students
planning to graduate from the University of Houston-Victoria
must file an
application
for graduation, whether they plan to participate in
commencement or not. Applications should be filed either during the semester prior to,
or during the semester in which the student plans to graduate. Application forms are available in the Office of
Admissions/Records and at the UH System Centers in Sugar Land and Cinco Ranch. If you plan to graduate during the current
semester and were disapproved for graduation in any previous
semester, you must re-file an application for graduation.
Application deadlines:
| Spring 2008 |
Friday, February 8, 2008 |
| Summer 2008 |
Friday, June 13, 2008 |
| Fall 2008 |
Friday, September 12, 2008 |
| Spring 2009 |
Friday, February 6, 2009 |
Any application
submitted after the deadline must be approved by formal
appeal to the Registrar’s office. Appeal forms may be found on
our website at
http://www.uhv.edu/oar/forms.asp
Students should
submit: 1) appeal form; 2) a written letter of appeal; and 3)
completed application forms. Note: For applications received
after the stated deadlines, there is no guarantee that the
student’s name will appear in the commencement bulletin.
Commencement
Students applying for
graduation will be asked to indicate whether or not they will be
participating in the commencement ceremony. Summer graduates
participate in the Fall commencement ceremony since there is not
a formal commencement ceremony in the summer.
Note: Students must be on track to complete ALL requirements toward
their degree in the semester in which they plan to participate in
commencement.
Reminder: Students must still apply for
graduation even if they do not participate in commencement.
Honors
(undergraduate student only):
Spring Commencement
Because the current semester grades are not
available at the time the commencement bulletins are printed, the honors
designation in the commencement bulletin will be a “tentative”
designation, with the UHV grade point average from the previous semester being used. A final determination for honors will
be made after all current semester grades are available. This final
grade point average will determine whether a student graduates
with honors. See “Graduation
with Honors” section of the UH-Victoria catalog for more
information.
3-Hours Over Rebate
(undergraduates only)

maximum of $1,000 are available for qualified students who have
attempted no more than three (3) hours in excess of the minimum

of higher education in the Fall of 1997 or later.
