Welcome to the UHV School of Nursing where we offer excellent and flexible programs for those busy nurses who want to obtain a bachelors degree, those interested in advancing their nursing career with a graduate degree or those students who already have a university degree and want to become a nurse in our second degree program. The programs are approved through the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and the Texas Board of Nursing .The program is seeking accreditation through the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education in 2009.
The School of Nursing offers admission to the RN to BSN program in the Spring and Summer semesters at both the Sugar Land and Victoria campuses. Starting Summer 2009 , the RN to BSN program is offered at the Austin campus. Starting Spring 2010 , the RN to BSN program will be offered at the Katy campus.
UHV is pleased to announce the School of Nursing Second Degree BSN program received formal approval from the Texas Board of Nursing on July 17, 2008.The next admission to this program will be Spring 2010.
The Second Degree Bachelors program is a twelve-month intensive full-time program for people holding bachelors or masters degrees in other fields who want to become registered nurses (RNs). This program is designed to facilitate a career change for the more mature and experienced student. This program will be offered on the Sugar Land, and Katy Campuses. Deadline for application and all supporting documents for Second Degree BSN program is November 1, 2009.
The School of Nursing offers a Masters of Science in Nursing degree with tracks as Nurse Educator and Nurse Administrator. The Masters of Science Nursing degree is offered at the Victoria,Sugar Land and Katy campuses. Innovative educational delivery and part-time study is available.
The Masters degree program prepares professional nurses for leadership roles in nursing education and nursing administration. Graduate study in nursing requires the acquisition and systematic application of knowledge and skills in nursing practice, evidence based practice, and nursing role. Advanced critical thinking skills in nursing are enhanced through the study of theory and research.
The School of Nursing offers admission to the MSN and the RN to MSN Bridge programs Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters at both the Sugar Land and Victoria campuses. Starting Summer 2009 the MSN program will offered at the Katy Campus.
