Welcome to the University of Houston - Victoria School of Nursing, where we offer excellent and flexible programs for those busy nurses who want to obtain a bachelor's degree, those interested in advancing their nursing career with a graduate degree or those students who already have a university degree and want to become a nurse in our Second Degree program. The programs are approved through the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and have full approval from the Texas Board of Nursing (October 2012). The UHV School of Nursing is an institutional member of the Texas Medical Center.

RN to BSN
The University of Houston - Victoria School of Nursing does not offer an entry-level nursing program. The RN to BSN completion program is specifically for working nurses who have completed their associate degree and subsequent RN licensure to advance their professional qualifications while continuing to live and work within the community. This program is offered in the spring and summer semesters in Victoria and the greater Houston area including Sugar Land, Katy and The Woodlands, Texas.

Second Degree BSN
The Second Degree BSN program is a 12-month, intensive, full-time program for people holding bachelor's or master's degrees in other fields who want to become registered nurses (RNs). This program is designed to facilitate a career change for the more mature and experienced student. This program is offered in Sugar Land, Texas. Deadline for application and all supporting documents for the Second Degree BSN program is October 1, 2013.

MSN (With an option in nursing education, nursing administration and family nurse practitioner)
The School of Nursing offers a Master's of Science in Nursing degree with tracks as Nurse Educator, Nurse Administrator, and Family Nurse Practitioner. The Master's of Science Nursing degree is offered in Victoria and the greater Houston area including Sugar Land and Katy, Texas. Innovative educational delivery and part-time study is available. The Family Nurse Practitioner track is full time, 5-day a week study with one admission a year - the Fall semester. Travel each semester within the UHV service area which includes Victoria, Fort Bend, Katy and the greater Houston area will be necessary to satisfy program requirements.

Please note for the Fall 2013 semester, all classes for the Nurse Educator and the Family Nurse Practitioner track will be offered at the UH Sugar Land campus.

The master's degree program prepares professional nurses for leadership roles in nursing education and nursing administration. The family nurse practitioner track prepares nurses to assume leadership roles in advance nursing practice. Graduate study in nursing requires the acquisition and systematic application of knowledge and skills in nursing practice, evidence-based practices, and nursing role. Advanced critical thinking skills in nursing are enhanced through the study of theory and research.

MSN/MBA Dual Degree 
The Master of Science in Nursing and Master of Business Administration dual degree program prepares professional nurses for leadership roles in nursing administration, providing them with the knowledge and skills needed to successfully manage healthcare organizations in a dynamic environment.  Graduate study in nursing requires the acquisition and systematic application of knowledge and skills in nursing practice, evidence based practice, and nursing role.  Advance critical thinking skills in nursing are enhanced through the study of theory and research.  Graduate study in business offers an integrated curriculum that blends theoretical concepts with practical applications. 

A student will be awarded a Master of Science in Nursing/Business Administration degree upon completion of this program.
