Directions for Searching for Classes: "Browse Catalog"
Step 2: The Browse Catalog feature provides an alphabetical search tool for the class schedule.
Classes are organized by
subject (Accounting or ACC, Foundations of Education or FED,
History or HIS, etc.), so accounting courses appear first in the
list (as in our example below).
You have two options here to learn more about the course. You can click on the course description or name (which will provide some general details about the course). You can also View Class Sections. You want to View Class Sections so that you can see more information about how many course sections are being offered, where they are being offered, and so on. So, let’s click on View Class Sections (shown in the image above) for MGT 6351, and continue to Step 4 Step 4: When you choose View Class Sections, the course sections that are being offered will appear.
Depending upon what’s important to you, you’ll want to look at the day and time the course is offered, who the instructor is, what location the class is being offered, and/or the instruction mode.
There are a couple of things that you’ll want to look for in the display.
Let’s use our example to discuss some of the important features of the search results.
By clicking on the course section, you can learn more
information about the class, including the class availability
(whether or not there are seats available and, if so, how many)
and any prerequisites for the course. (To learn about
prerequisites for a course, visit the course catalog at
http://www.uhv.edu/catalog/course_descriptions.asp.)
Step 5: When you’re finished looking at the sections available for one class, choose Start a New Search to begin searching for the next class that you want to take.
From here, you can read directions for Searching the Course Schedule or you can Browse the Catalog.
