Using Wizz to Receive RSS Feeds (Firefox Browser Plug-in)
Return to
Tutorials and Workshops
Wizz is a good RSS reader option for Mozilla Firefox users
because it is a plug-in that works directly in your browser.
You don't need to launch a separate application or go to a
website to get your news feeds. Wizz will aggregate news
feeds, blogs, podcasts, etc., in one easy-to-manage area.
These instructions apply to the Firefox browser only.
Please open Firefox before continuing this tutorial.
Install Wizz RSS Reader
Use the Wizz RSS Reader
Install the Wizz RSS Reader
1. Go to the Wizz download page at
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/424/. Scroll down and
click the Install Now button.

2. Click the Install Now button in the Software
Installation windows. Although Wizz is labeled as Unsigned,
you can trust the application.

3. When the download is complete, the Extensions window
will open and notifies you that Wizz will be installed when
Firefox is restarted. To restart Firefox, close all open
Firefox windows and relaunch the application.

4. Once Firefox is restarted, you will see the Wizz RSS
toolbar near the top of the window, below the navigation
and/or bookmarks toolbar.

Use the Wizz RSS Reader
1. Introducing the Wizz RSS toolbar.
 2.
Open Wizz in a sidebar by clicking the
button
on the toolbar. There are three panes in the Wizz sidebar.
The right part of the window is your webpage viewing area--that's where the webpage
content will be displayed. In the sidebar, the
top left pane is your channel list displaying all of the feeds
you have requested. Click on a link in the channel list and
the list of current headlines will be displayed in the left
middle pane. Click on a headline and a short description
will be displayed in the lower left pane and the details
will appear in the right main viewing area.

3.
The easiest way to add a feed is to click-and-drag the site
feed icon or link to the Channel/Feed List pane. Open the
webpage for which you would like to setup a news feed. Look
for a "Site Feed" icon like one of the following, or just a
text link labeled "Site Feed" or something similar.

Click on the link and drag it over to the Channel pane in
the left sidebar. It will automatically try to validate the
feed and, if valid, will get the channel name and add it to
your channel list. That's it! Simple.
The developers of the Wizz RSS Reader have created a very
good online tutorial that is updated with each new release
of the reader. We recommend using this tutorial before
changing settings, importing feed lists, etc.
