What is UHVConnect?
UHVConnect is a social network for UHV alumni, students,
faculty, staff, and friends. The members can get connected
to each other, join groups, share photos and blog posts,
register for campus events, collect job-seeking information,
make a donation to UHV , subscribe to ABR, read UHV news,
and so on.
What can the students do in UHVConnect for learning?

Set up study groups for more communication and interaction
·
Extend the learning to a life-long process after finishing
an academic course
·
Develop creative learning projects using functions like
photo album, personal blog, group blog, and so on
·

Register
with UHVConnect
If it’s the first time you visit UHVConnect, click the
register link and follow the steps to create your account.

Understand Your
Personal Page
The central column on your Personal Page is public to the
other members in UHVConnect. On this page, the visitors can
view your photo gallery, personal blog, headshot photo,
connection list, professional information, personal
information, and additional information you would like to
share with them. This is the primary source for your
visitors and friends to get to know you.

What’s on My Profile?
My Profile menu (Figure 3), which is located on the right
side of your Personal Page, is where you can switch between
various pages including:

My Personal Page

My Profile:
edit account information, personal information, additional
information, and so on.

My Groups: Your primary
group can be student, alumni, faculty, staff, or friend,
which you choose when creating your UHVConnect account.
Figure 4 shows a Staff group page, and a page of another
group may look different but have similar functions. On this
page, you can access the group homepage, or write a message
to the whole group.

My Networks:
Link to your profile on other network sites, such as
Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn, etc.

My Event Registration:
Some campus events can be registered in UHVConnect. All of
the upcoming or past events that you have registered for are
listed on this page.

My Personal Blog:
Write a new post, edit the existing posts, and view your
blog.

My Subscriptions:
You can subscribe to the internal blogs within UHVConnect,
and all the subscribed blogs will be listed on this page.
Using the red icons in the Options column, you can choose
notifications for new comments on a blog or not, or remove a
subscription.

My Preferences:
Adjust the various settings of privacy and notification.

My Messages:
You can read, write, reply, and manage the internal
messages.

My Connections:
All of your connections are listed on this page. You can
view their Personal Pages, connection lists, photos, or send
an internal message. To remove a connection, click the
“trash can” icon besides the connection’s name.

My Photo Gallery:
You can upload and save your photos to share with friends.
The photos can be viewed in slideshow.

Upload new photos by selecting Upload a Photo under
the gallery title: Photos: <Your Name>. You
can choose to upload a single file or multiple photos at a
time using the multi-file upload applet.

You can create and manage albums to organize the photos in
your gallery.

Getting Connected to
the Community
On the upper left corner of the UHVConnect window, there is
a Community Search box, where you can search for
someone you know to view his/her profile, request
connection, and so on.
Below the Community Search box, there is a navigation menu.
You may use the options to get connected to the UHVConnect
community and access various resources.

Note:
if you would like to start your own group, contact the
UHVConnect administrator. The contact information can be
found on the Contact Us page.
