Like other RSS readers, it collects and displays the news and podcasts by subscribing to RSS feeds. Add RSS Feeds

1. Open the application--double-click the shortcut icon on your desktop or go to Start | All Programs | CITA RSS Aggregator.

2. You will notice that there is now a new icon in your system tray on the lower right of your screen (by the clock). The square, red RSS icon is the minimized view of the CITA RSS Aggregator.

3. Click this icon and the RSS Aggregator will switch to full-screen mode. There you will find menu options to change the settings and tasks. The main window is divided in two frames--the left side is the "channel" list where you will see a list of websites, blogs, podcasts, etc., and the right frame is the browser area where you can view the content and download files.

4. To add the LTD blog feed, type the URL in the address bar at the top of the right frame: http://uhvonline.blogspot.com

5. When the RSS Aggregator detects there is one or more RSS feeds on a webpage, an orange bar will be displayed at the top of the browser window. Click the bar to add the feeds.

6. A dialog window will be displayed. From the drop-down menu, select the (RSS 2.0) feed from those listed. Then click the Add this channel button to finish.

7. Click OK on the following dialog box confirming that a new channel has been added to the aggregator.

8. The title of the LTD blog, Design. Technology. Learning. is now displayed on the channel list. You may add more feeds to follow the news that interests you.

Have a question about options or setup in the Aggregator? Press the F1 (Help) key when using Aggregator and it will display context-specific help information.

View RSS Feeds

1. Click the blog title in the channel list to the left. The browser area on the right will display the content. Note, in this example, when the blog channel has been updated, it will display the actual blog post instead of the 'New channel' message.

2. Move your mouse over title in the channel list, and you will get a preview of the content that will be displayed if you click the link. This quick preview is handy if you are short on time and only want to read the priority news.

3. When the Aggregator detects any update on that webpage, it will send an alert notifying you it is available to view.

You may choose to disable this alert by going to Tools | Options | Alert Settings and changing the settings.
