Activate Your
Student Account
If you have never logged in or if your password has
expired, you must change your password to activate
your account. If you have not activated your
account, you will not be able to access the online
library databases.
New student accounts
New student accounts are created with the student’s
date of birth (MMDDYYYY) as the initial password and
the password is pre-expired.
This means that a new student must change his password
from his date of birth to a new password in order to
activate his account.
Returning student accounts
Student account passwords for returning students are
not reset. However, the life of a
password is 160 days. This means that students are
required to change their passwords every 160 days
based on the date of their last password change.
When you login in the labs or when you login to
email, the system will warn you if your password is
about to expire, or prompt you for a new password if
your password has already expired. Students may also
change their passwords earlier than 160 days if they
wish.
How to Activate Your Account
Onsite at the UH-Victoria Campus
Passwords can be reset onsite by simply logging in on
a computer in one of the labs. You will be prompted
to enter a new password the first time you login
each semester. Lab Assistants are on duty to assist
you if necessary.
Remote Access
From off-campus, you must login to the Student Email
Server to change your password. See
Logging In via the Web for instructions.
Changing your password enables access to your student
email and remote access to the library online
databases.
