Orientation to WebCT Vista
and Online Courses [August, 2006]
Jumpstart your semester by attending a face-to-face orientation
to WebCT Vista and Online Courses. This orientation is not
required, however, it will be helpful to students who are
new to online courses and WebCT Vista, as well as those
students who just want a refresher. This semester we are
also conducting one orientation session online using
Breeze.
We will provide handouts with the information and resources
discussed, answer questions, and have all students in
the face-to-face sessions find their usernames, log
in to their WebCT courses, and participate in hands-on
exercises using the most commonly used WebCT tools. The
online orientation will be a live webinar in Breeze, combining document
presentation, screen-sharing, and Q & A, identifying
website resources and demonstrating how to use WebCT. To
participate, students only need an internet connection, a
Flash-enabled web browser, and speakers (Flash is a free
download from http://www.adobe.com )

Is Your Computer Up-To-Date?
Students taking online courses should continue to be diligent
in their efforts to keep their computer updated with spyware
and virus protection throughout the semester. Many of the
technical problems that students face at the start of the
semester can be addressed by running spyware detection software
regularly and keeping your virus protection updated.
