Tutoring
The Academic Center
provides onsite and online writing assistance, instructional
materials, testing services, and subject-area assistance to
UHV students. The Center is located in the University Center
building, room 122, and maintains a web presence at http://www.uhv.edu/ac
Writing Assistance
Writing assistance is available to all UHV students either
face-to-face at the Victoria campus or online. By appointment
or online, the Center staff review class papers or articles
for publication. Trained tutors review these documents, make
suggestions for revision, and discuss techniques for analyzing
and revising writing.
All UHV students may email documents as Microsoft Word,
Corel WordPerfect, or Microsoft Works attachments to the Center.
Undergraduate and graduate students should send their documents
to tutor@uhv.edu. Students
are encouraged to visit the Academic
Center Student Services Guide which provides additional
information about online tutoring.
To schedule a face-to face tutoring session, individuals
can call (361) 570-4288.
Instructional Resources
The Academic Center has a library of free instructional

(University Center, room 122) and online at www.uhv.edu/ac.
The Center has a variety of style manuals, including The
Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association,
the MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers,
and The Associated Press Stylebook and Libel Manual,
a number of grammar handbooks, and other writing resource
manuals that graduate students can use by stopping by the
Center.
