The WebQuest Model
A WebQuest has 6 components:
1. Introduction - captures student interest
and provides background on the topic.
2. Task - describes the activity's end product
or goal. Reference this Taxonomy
of Tasks to create a viable and engaging WebQuest with
tasks appropriate to your age group and learning objectives.
3. Process - explains the strategies students
should use to complete the tasks. Use this Process
Checklist to tell students what they should do when. Share
the following Process
Guide with your students to help them analyze the web
data more effectively.
4. Resources - are the web sites and other
tools students will reference to complete the tasks. Research
and select current, accurate, and educationally valuable sites.
5. Evaluation - measures the results of
the activity and includes the grading criteria. You may adapt
the following Rubric
for Evaluating WebQuests to fit your specific quest.
6. Conclusion - sums up the activity and
encourages students to reflect on its process and results.
The Reading
and Training Materials page will provide numerous resources
for developing your WebQuests, including sample templates
that can be downloaded and adapted to your activity.
