What is Vista?
WebCT is the online course management system that we currently
use at the University of Houston-Victoria. We upgraded to
the latest version of WebCT called Vista during the Summer
and Fall, 2004. ALL UHV online courses are conducted
using Vista, including any supplemental online courses
that are used in conjunction with select face-to-face courses.
Student Orientation to Online Courses and WebCT Vista Handout
If you are a first-time online student, you may also find
this information helpful in your preparations to be more
successful in your online courses. The Student
Orientation to Online Courses and WebCT Vista handout (PDF)
provides 1) general information about being an online
learner, 2) technology requirements and helpful troubleshooting
tips, 3) an overview of the tools used in Vista, 4) technical
support resources, and 5) other student resources, such
as testing and tutoring, and library services.

Vista Tutorials
To help you use Vista, we have developed a series of short
tutorials on the Vista components that are used most often.
Click on the tutorial listed below that you would like to
review. Many of these tutorials also include an interactive
Flash demo to aid in your understanding. Your browser must
have the FlashPlayer plug-in available as a free download
from Macromedia.
You will also find an online Help menu within Vista, similar
to that in WebCT Campus Edition, that provides step-by-step
instructions for using all the major Vista tools. The online
Help is context-sensitive which means that it will display
the Help topics for the page or tool that you are using at
the time you click Help.
