Student Tutorials
Welcome to the Online Student Tutorials section of our web
site. Here students will find resources that we hope will
help them be more successful in their online courses. New
tutorials will be added often. To help us serve you better,
feel free to contact us with
your suggestions for tutorials that you think will help you
become a better online student.
If you are a first-time online student, you may also find
this information helpful in your preparations to be more
successful in your online courses. The Student
Orientation to Online Courses and WebCT Vista handout (PDF)
provides 1) general information about being an online
learner, 2) technology requirements and helpful troubleshooting
tips, 3) an overview of the tools used in Vista, 4) technical
support resources, and 5) other student resources, such
as testing and tutoring, and library services.
WebCT is the online course management system we use here
at UHV. We are in the process of upgrading to the new version
called WebCT Vista. This tutorial will help you learn how
to use WebCT Vista.
WebQuests are structured, internet-based activities that
guide the student in finding information and then using
that information to make decisions, solve problems, and
evaluate issues. This tutorial introduces the concept of
WebQuests, and guides students who have been asked to design
and build their own WebQuest.
