COW 2004 Online Pre-Workshop
We're excited that this year's CampusNet Online Workshop
includes an activity that has been requested by previous years'
participants: an Online Pre-Workshop Module!
Below you will find information on how to access and participate
in the pre-workshop online module. The pre-workshop is designed
to give you the background that we will build on in the face-to-face
workshop. In this pre-workshop module, we discuss some of
the myths around online learning, help you to take the first
steps toward designing your online course, and give some tips
to avoid the major pitfalls of online learning (which will
be a HUGE time-saver in the long run!). We think that you
will find it very valuable as you begin to think about teaching
in an online environment.
Here's how this will work:
(1) You'll get an email notification from WEBCT at UH that
you have "been added to the course."
(2) Once you've received this email, follow the instructions
below for setting up your password and logging in.
(3) You will then be ready when the Online Module officially
begins on Monday, May 3.
Here's your log on information for WebCT:
WebCT ID: xxxxxx (username you received by email notification)
Default Password: your 8-digit birthday (mmddyyyy) for new
users. (UH and UHV users:If you have an existing account,
then your password is unchanged from whatever you last used.)
To access the pre-workshop in WebCT
1) Go to http://www.uh.edu/webct
2) Click on the red "Log On" button
3) Enter the WebCT ID and Password shown above. The system
is case-sensitive, so be sure to type it exactly as shown
above.
Once you are logged on, you will see your course(s) on your
myWebCT page.
Change your password the first time you log in by
selecting "Password Settings" from the links under
your name at the top of your myWebCT page.
The Pre-Workshop activities begin on Monday, May
3rd. Be sure to login by Monday to get started.
