Learning Objectives

As a result of this course, students will

  1. Know how to relate MIS to management, the organization and technology, focusing on the importance of integrating these elements
  2. Comprehend the IT infrastructure (hardware, software, managing data resources, telecommunications and networks and the internet)
  3. Comprehend general e-Commerce applications and the ethical and social issues in the digital firm
  4. Use software packages to create a website, a business database application, and a complex spreadsheet with decision support functions.
  5. Apply learned principles and theories to given problems regarding management and organizational information systems.
  6. Analyze the implementation of information systems, including information security and control.
  7. Analyze the impacts of IT/IS on organizational competitive strategy and performance.
