  1. Where is the Spring 2014 commencement ceremony?
    The spring 2014 Commencement ceremony will be held at Faith Family Church, 2002 E. Mockingbird Lane Victoria, TX 77904 on Saturday, May 10, 2014.

    • 9:00 a.m. Ceremony: School of Arts & Sciences, School of Education and Human Development
    • 1:00 p.m. Ceremony: School of Business Administration, School of Nursing
  2. Where exactly is Faith Family Church located?
    Faith Family Church is located at 2002 E. Mockingbird Lane, Victoria, TX 77904. Please see the About Victoria section in the online commencement packet for a map.
  3. Will guests need tickets for the commencement ceremony at Faith Family Church?
    All guests, including infants and children will be required to have a ticket to attend the ceremony. Tickets will be mailed out to graduates by late April. Please make sure your mailing address in your student account is up to date.
  4. What should I wear to the ceremony?
    Please use good judgment when choosing your attire for the ceremony. You will be standing for a considerable amount of time, so choose your footwear accordingly. Recommended attire for men is a button down shirt with tie and dress slacks. For women, a dress or slacks/skirt and blouse would be appropriate.
  5. Where and when can I purchase commencement regalia and order announcements and rings?
    You can purchase your commencement regalia and order your announcements and rings by visiting the Regalia and Information Page

    If you are in the Victoria, you can stop by the bookstore and make your selections in person. Regalia will be available for purchase both online and in person after March 17, 2014.
  6. What can I carry into the ceremony with me?
    You will not be permitted to carry anything into the ceremony with you. Please be advised to leave purses, cameras, phones, etc. either in your vehicle or with family members. The commencement staff will not be held responsible for any items left behind during or after the ceremony.
  7. How do I qualify for academic honors for the commencement ceremony?
    Information regarding the requirements for academic honors can be found in the UHV catalog.
  8. I believe I’m graduating with academic honors. What do I do?
    All students who qualify for honors will be contacted by the first week in April through their UHV student email address in regards to their academic honors status. Only undergraduate students receiving bachelor degrees are eligible for academic honors. Students will have the opportunity to pick up their honor cords at the Victoria campus or they will be distributed on the day of the ceremony at check in time. If you still have questions after you receive your email, you may contact The Office of the Registrar and Student Records registration@uhv.edu. If you are a member of an honor society within your academic school or program, please contact your advisor/sponsor for more information.
  9. Is there a special seating area for wheelchairs?
    Please have your guests check with the Faith Family Church ushers for assistance with special seating arrangements.
  10. If I'm graduating with a master's degree, do I wear my hood into the ceremony?
    Before you arrive for the commencement ceremony, please take a moment to read the instructions on how to carry your hood into the ceremony. Also, please pay close attention to the Marshal assigned to your group for any additional information.
  11. On which side of my mortar board do I wear my tassel?
    If you are receiving a bachelor's degree, you will wear your tassel on the right side and will move it to the left when you are instructed to do so at the conclusion of the ceremony. If you are receiving a master's degree, you will wear your tassel on the left side, where it will remain.
  12. When will my degree be posted on my official transcript?
    Grades are posted approximately one week after the commencement ceremony. At that time, the process will begin to confer and post degrees to official transcripts. Please be aware that this process could take up to 4-6 weeks.
  13. When will I receive my diploma?
    Diplomas will be mailed out after degrees have been conferred, usually about 4-6 weeks after grades are posted. Diplomas are mailed to the address posted in your student record or to the address you designated in your MyUHV as the UH-Victoria Diploma Address.
