SUBJECT: POSTING OF NOTICES

POLICY

The University of Houston-Victoria allows the posting and distribution of information of general interest to students. However, posting or distribution of material on the UHV campus does not imply endorsement or liability for material contents on the part of the University.

PROCEDURE

The distribution procedures apply to all materials which are posted or distributed on the UHV campus.

• Notices by or on behalf of students that are to be posted or distributed must be date-stamped by the UHV Office of Student Relations (OSR).   Unstamped notices will be removed by OSR personnel.   Any posting that is more than one month old will be taken down unless prior arrangements are made with OSR.  
• Material will not be posted that is determined to be obscene, libelous, or advocate the deliberate violation of a federal or state law or published university policy.
• Material of a commercial nature will not be posted or distributed. (i.e. Individuals, companies, or businesses would not be allowed to post notices for a profitable enterprise. A student selling a personal computer, bicycle, dog, etc. would be allowed to post a notice, but a student selling Amway, Avon, magazine subscriptions, etc. would not.)
• Material may be posted or distributed only in designated areas as space is available. Material posted or distributed in undesignated areas will be removed by OSR personnel. Designated areas for posting and/or distribution of materials by students are

• the "student information" bulletin boards located at each of the entrances to the buildings at University of Houston-Victoria

• the "student organizations" office at UHV University Center near the Student Senate Office

• the student lounges (on bulletin boards or tables) classroom bulletin boards with faculty and OSR approval

• To find out designated areas for posting and/or distribution of materials by students at UHS Cinco Ranch, UHS Sugar Land or El Campo Northside Center contact:

• At UHS Cinco Ranch, contact administrative offices for approval

• At UHS Sugar Land, contact reception desk for approval

• At El Campo, contact the front office

• Designated posting areas for faculty and staff are

• wall areas outside a faculty member's offices (may be used by faculty members only)

• classroom bulletin boards

• the encased bulletin boards assigned to their area

Faculty, staff and students are responsible for removal of their notices.  For maintenance reasons, students, faculty, and staff are not to post materials on hall walls, on doors and windows, on exterior fixtures of any sort, or on vehicles.  Faculty and staff may hang special displays provided they check with OSR for assistance in determining appropriate locations and materials to be used. Faculty and staff should not post notices for students or student organizations unless those notices have been date-stamped by OSR.

Any appeal procedure which would come under the Non-Academic Grievance Procedures for students as outlined in the UHV Student Handbook.
