SUBJECT: SOCIAL SECURITY

 

POLICY

All employees of the University of Houston-Victoria (UHV) are covered by Social Security tax laws. Information concerning disability and retirement benefits covered by Social Security is available from  the Social Security Administration.  

All new employees  must provide the Human Resources Office with an original social security card issued by the Social Security Administration before they are  placed on the University's payroll. When negotiating employment with prospective employees from foreign countries (visiting instructors, student employees, etc.), departments must notify them of the requirement for a U.S. social security number.
