SUBJECT: NOTARY PUBLIC SERVICES
POLICY
Notary Public services will be provided as a service to faculty, staff, and students during regular offices hours, Monday through Friday. A Notary Public has the same authority as the county clerk to take acknowledgments or proofs of written instruments, protest instruments permitted by law to be protested, administer oaths, take depositions, and certify copies of documents not recordable in the public records. A Notary Public shall sign the name under which commissioned on all such written instruments.
The Notary Public reserves the right to reject a request for notarization if the person requesting services seem suspicious or if the requested notarization is questionable.
DEFINITION
Notary Public - a qualified, commissioned officer of the state, whose signature is accepted by the Courts of Texas as being from a credible, disinterested person whose official act is deemed truth unless disproved.

Student Services and Regional Outreach - Administrative Assistant
Office of Financial Aid - Financial Aid Counselor
Human Resources Office - HRMS Coordinator
UHS@Sugar Land - Office Coordinator
