Personnel Changes

Vice President Updates

Updates:

Facilities - We are still on track to complete construction on the Facilities Shed by the end of July and on the University West addition in late December 2003.

Legislative session - We do not know how much UHV will receive in state funding for FY2003-04 and FY2004-05.  Several bills are pending which could help relieve UHV from "red tape" by eliminating several reports required by state agencies.

Budget process for FY2003-04 - This is on hold awaiting the outcome of the State Appropriation and UHV's allocation of state funds.

Training

Financial Reports Training

A special workshop is being held June 4th on how to read the PeopleSoft Financial Reports.  The morning session (10-12) will be for managers and the afternoon session (1-3) will be for all users.  Barbara Duarte from Houston will be leading both groups.  The afternoon will include hands-on report applications.  Please email or call (x811) Karen Boldt to reserve your seat.

Congratulations to Angela Hartmann who received her certificate in Grants Administration from UH System.

Enterprise Rental Cars

Enterprise representatives will be attending the May 22 Travel Training Class (10-11 a.m. in 216C) for a question/answer session.  Please attend!

UHV Training Schedule

The UHV training schedule through August 2003, published by Human Resources, is available.  It can be found in:   Outlook, Public Folders, All Public Folders, Campus Calendars, Training.  Please register for classes at ext. 612.

Facilities Services

The annual property inventory was initiated immediately prior to the end of the semester to more easily permit the location and identification of property before many left for the summer.  Departments are encouraged to expedite this process to permit completion on schedule.  Submittal of property inventory is targeted for May 20.  Property managers throughout the system have adopted this earlier schedule to accommodate Faculty.

Use of the multi-purpose room has increased, with numerous requests for multiple events in the same day.  We recently had three events in one day.

Facilities staff have been busy adopting a classroom into DNA/Genetics Lab at UHSSL (Sugarland).

Spring cleaning has been underway by custodial staff throughout the buildings.  We appreciate the cooperation from faculty and staff!

Grounds staff is really challenged with hand watering of grass and flower beds as a result of broken and irrigation systems broken by Construction.
